4 Adults, 4 Kids, 1 RV, miles of memories
In our family, you should never, ever throw down a challenge. Never. Whether it's the sibling rivalry or our combined Latin/German/Eastern European heritage, we are all more stubborn than our labrador retriever puppy with his favorite tennis ball. This past April, a phone conversation with my sister about our upcoming summer vacation plans went something like this:
"Hey, we're thinking of taking the kids to Acadia National Park in Maine this summer and wanted to know if you guys wanted to go with us."
"Um, isn't that at least an 18 hour drive?"
"Yeah, so?"
"You know that I can barely ride 4 hours in the car."
"OK. It was just a thought. We haven't been on a vacation in a while and thought it would be fun."
"We'll think about it. Go rent a RV (haha), and we're in!"
The rest of this story includes Craig's List, lots of late night texts, phone calls to insurance agents, intense research of RV parks, a Good Sam membership, and two adventurous, maybe crazy, families.
Follow us on our journey to see Niagara Falls, Boston, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, and New York City! This could be an epic story, a horrible disaster, or a little bit of both wrapped up in what is destined to be Sunday dinner table conversation for years to come.
